Our gutter generator centers around a sophisticated waterwheel design. At the heart of it lies a 12 V 60:1 geared motor, which will serve as our generator. Motors work by spinning a coil, connected to a shaft, using electromagnetic forces. It can work in reverse, meaning that turning the shaft of a motor will produce electricity. We will attach our motor to our water wheel, so that when the water wheel turns, the motor turns, and electricity will be generated.
