Vancouver, nicknamed “Raincouver” by its lovely residents, is

one of the rainiest cities in North America.  It receives more rain annually than Seattle and

Washington. On any given day, on average, Vancouver receives around 4 millimeters of rain. Times that by the size of the city and we are talking about thousands of gallons of water.  And where does that all go? Down the sewage systems, restarting their natural cycle.

“Every year over 1400 millimeters of rain falls on Vancouver. It’d be a shame if all that energy went to waste”

- Jason Young

The Problem

What if we construct an intermediary between the gutter and the sewage system that harnesses the power of rain? What if we take advantage of rainfall when it’s at its most energetic state - when it’s rushing down the gutter? Enter - the gutter generator.
